Memorial Day 2009

On this Memorial Day I am grateful for all of those servicemen who have served in one of the branches of the armed services. Many of those have given their lives to protect this country and its constitution. For this I will be eternally grateful. But at this time of year I also give thanks for my parents now deceased, even though neither one served in the armed services. They gave up so much to raise me and my brother. My parents gave me my ethics and values. I wouldn't be who I am today without my parents love, care, direction, and values. My parent's legacy lives on in my children and grandchildren.

Maggie's 6th grade orchestra concert

We went to Maggie's orchestra concert in Naperville last Saturday. It was a 6th grade concert made up of three different schools in the district. There were 150+ students participating. They sounded really good. It was wonderful to see students of that age participating in and enjoying the performance. Some schools have cut out their orchestra program due to lack of funds and participation. I applaud the Naperville school district

Wondering

I have just learned to quilt and have been neglecting my sewing for Salvation Army dolls. I am wondering how I am going to mesh the two and still enjoy both. Meantime, I am also trying to fill my thirst for reading. It is still difficult, nearly six years after retirement, to spend time reading during the day, because I feel I need to be working to accomplish something. Can anyone out there help me?
